Prithivi Rice Shop

Prithivi Rice Shop is over at 52, Krishnavaram in Udumalipatti. It is just a regular shop where we sell different types of rice to the public. We have been here for a good amount of time now. People from all around Udumalipatti come by when they need to get their monthly supply for their homes. The shop isn’t very large at all. We have bags of rice stacked up high against the walls. It makes the whole place smell like fresh grain, which I have always liked. My father used to work in this shop too. Now I am the one who takes care of things every day. The address is 52, Krishnavaram. It is very easy to find if you already know the area well. Some days it stays quiet and I just sit on my wooden stool and watch the road. Other days, it seems like everyone comes at once and it gets quite hectic. We do not have any computers or fancy gadgets here. I just use a small notebook to keep track of what we sell to people. I write everything down by hand with a blue pen. The floors are made of concrete and they get a bit dusty from the rice bags. I try to sweep up every evening before I close the heavy shutters for the night. Life here is steady and we do not try to be anything we aren't. We just sell rice to the neighbors.
