Pratik Garments

We are located over at No. 27 Krr Gardens on Mangalam Road. If you know this part of the city, you know it is all about the garment trade. Pratik Garments is just one of many units around here trying to keep up with the work. Our building is basically a large shed with a concrete floor that stays cool in the morning. It gets quite warm in the middle of the day, so we have big industrial fans blowing all the time to keep the air moving. There is the constant rhythm of the sewing machines and the hiss of the steam irons coming from the back area. We have a small crew of workers who have been doing this kind of thing for years. They are very fast with their hands, and it is something to watch them work through a large pile of shirts. We do not have a fancy showroom or anything like that for people to visit. If you come by, you will likely see rolls of fabric being unloaded from a truck or bags of finished goods being loaded up for delivery. The yard outside is often dusty, and we have to keep the doors mostly closed to keep the dirt off the finished fabrics. We are not trying to be anything we are not. We just make clothes and try to make sure the stitching is done right. It is a lot of long hours.
