Niranjana Knit Garments

Our place is located at 381 P.N. Road. It's a very busy stretch of road with a lot of big trucks going past all the time. Niranjana Knit Garments has been in this spot for quite a while now. It’s mostly about the knits here. The machines make a lot of noise which is a constant humming sound in the background. You get used to it after the first hour of your shift. We deal with yarn and needles every single day. Sometimes the thread snaps and you have to stop everything to fix it. It's honestly tedious work sometimes. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. Just a wooden desk with some old papers and a telephone that rings way too loud. The walls could really use a new coat of paint but nobody has the time for that. We just focus on the orders we have to finish. My cousin works the afternoon shift with me. We eat our lunch together on the back bench. Usually it's just some rice and a bit of curry from home. The heat gets to be a bit much in the afternoon so we keep the old fans going. P.N. Road is always dusty because of the constant construction nearby. We keep the doors shut to stop the dirt from getting on the white fabric. It’s a simple setup. We know the other shop owners on this block and we borrow tools from each other sometimes.
