Vastra Textiles

Our shop is tucked away on 5-A, 4th Cross Street, just off Bss Road in Palayakadu. It isn't the easiest place to find if you aren't from around here, but the locals know where we are. We work with textiles, mostly doing the regular stuff people need every day. The building is an older one, and it gets a bit cramped when we have a lot of fabric rolls sitting around on the floor. We spend most of our time cutting and checking the cloth to make sure nothing is wrong with it. It’s dusty work sometimes. We started this because there was a need for material in the neighborhood. We don’t have a big sales team or anything like that. Usually, it’s just one of us answering the phone or talking to whoever walks through the door. The street outside can get pretty narrow when someone parks a bike the wrong way, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We keep our hours regular, though sometimes we stay late if a big order needs to go out the next morning. It’s just a normal workplace with people who have been doing this for a long time. We know the rhythm of the work and the way the seasons affect the trade. It’s not flashy, but it’s what we do. We have a small tea break at four and then get back to finishing the day.
