Sri Fancy Mahal

If you head down Kangiyam Road in Padiyur, you’ll find us right there. Sri Fancy Mahal has been standing here for quite some time, and it’s seen a lot of local events over the years. We spend a lot of our time making sure the hall is ready for whoever needs it next. There is always a lot of cleaning to do, especially after a big gathering. We spend hours sweeping the floors and stacking up the chairs so the place looks decent. It can get pretty hot in Padiyur, so we’re often checking the fans and making sure the water supply is working okay. We don't have a big team, so everyone chips in with whatever needs doing, whether it’s fixing a light or helping someone move their stuff inside. The building itself is straightforward, with enough room for families to get together. We like seeing the familiar faces from the neighborhood coming through the doors. Sometimes things get a bit chaotic when there are two things happening close together, but we manage to get through it. We usually keep the gates open during the day so people can pop in and ask questions. It’s a quiet spot when nobody is around, which is a nice change from the busy times. We just try to keep the place running smoothly for everyone who uses it. It’s a lot of manual work, but it’s what we do.
