You can find us at No.20 College Pudur, which is right near the Ramasamy Muthammal Kalyana Mandapampalladam Road. It is a bit of a landmark for people in this part of town. Pacificoverseasknits is a local knitting unit where we spend our time managing the machines and the yarn. The building is a simple concrete structure that stays quite warm during the day. We have large windows to let the air move, but when the machines are all running, it still gets a bit stuffy. We have spools of thread in every shade imaginable stacked on metal racks. Most of the people who work here live nearby, so we see each other at the market or the temple as well. We don't have any corporate policies or fancy handbooks. We just know what needs to be knitted and we get to it. When there is a big wedding at the Kalyana Mandapam next door, we can hear the music and the drums while we work. It makes the day go by a little faster. We spend a lot of time checking for dropped stitches or knots in the yarn. It requires good eyes and steady fingers. We aren't a massive factory, just a small group of people doing honest work with our machines. We pack everything into bags and load them onto the small tempos that come by in the afternoon. It is a simple life.
