Cut Fit Machine Works

Our shop is over at Panai Mara Thottam in the Anupparpalayam area. It’s a bit of a long address to write out, especially with Thirumurugan Poondi at the end of it. We’re located at No. 11, and it’s a typical local workspace for this part of town. The heat can be pretty intense during the summer months, so we keep the big front doors open to catch whatever breeze comes through the trees outside. We do a lot of cutting and fitting work, just like the name says on our board. There’s usually a pile of raw material sitting in one corner and finished parts stacked up in another, waiting to be picked up. We don't have a fancy computer system for tracking everything; we mostly just remember where we put stuff or write it down in a big ledger that stays on the main desk. The tools we use are old but they are very reliable. You get used to the vibration of the cutters in your hands after a while. Most of us have worked here for a long time, so we don't need to talk much to get the job done. We know the rhythm of the place and how each machine sounds when it’s running. Sometimes a customer will drop by and stay for a cup of tea while we finish up their order. It’s a slow pace in terms of the atmosphere, but the work itself keeps us moving all day. We’re just part of the local fabric here, making things that people need. It’s honest work. It keeps us busy and we don't have many complaints about the daily grind.
