Metro Tex is situated at No. 29 Town Extension 3rd Street in Sheriff Colony. We work with textiles and fabrics. It’s a quiet enough street most of the time, compared to the main roads. We have several machines running, so there’s always a steady hum in the background. It smells like fresh cloth and a bit of machine oil here. We don't have a fancy showroom. It’s mostly just rolls of fabric stacked up against the walls. Some of them have been there a while. We do a lot of measuring and cutting every day. Our hands usually have bits of thread stuck to them by the evening. We aren't a giant factory, just a local spot where things get made. Most of our workers live nearby in the colony. We’ve been at this address for a good number of years now. We know the postman and the guy who sells snacks on the corner. We don't do any big marketing. Most people find us through word of mouth or by just walking past. It’s a lot of manual labor, but we are used to it. We just focus on the fabric and making sure the counts are right. It’s a basic operation but it keeps us busy from morning until night here at Metro Tex. We keep a small radio for the news, and the cat from next door usually comes in to sleep on the fabric scraps.
