Merino Garments

Merino Garments is located at No. 277 in Oorgounder Nagar, over in the Perichipalayam area. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the main city center, which we prefer. We focus on making clothes. The workshop has been here for a long time. We have people from the neighborhood working with us. Some have been sewing for twenty years and they know the machines inside out. The building is just a standard one, nothing special to look at from the outside. Inside, it’s mostly rows of machines and piles of cut fabric waiting to be put together into shirts or pants. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just take the orders and get them sewn up. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but that's just how it is here in this part of town. We try to keep things organized but when a big shipment is due, it gets pretty crowded with boxes stacked up to the ceiling. We don't use fancy jargon. We just talk about sleeves, buttons, and hemlines. If a machine breaks, one of the guys fixes it and we keep going. It’s a honest living. We make sure the stitching is straight and the threads are trimmed. That's really all there is to it at our place in Perichipalayam. We just come in, do the work, and go home to our families at the end of the day.
