Joy Knit Fashions

Joy Knit Fashions is tucked away at No. 7 on 2nd Street in Karumarampalayam East, Mannarai. It’s a quiet enough area most of the time. We work primarily with knitted items, which is what this whole region is known for anyway. Our building isn't anything special to look at, just a practical workspace where we get things done. We have a couple of machines and some tables for packing. Most days, the sound of the equipment is the main thing you hear when you walk in. We started out small and stayed that way, mostly because we like knowing exactly what’s going on with every piece we make. The streets around here can be a bit narrow, so getting large trucks in and out takes some effort. We spend a lot of our time checking the stitching and making sure the fabric feels right. It’s dusty work sometimes, but that is part of the job. We don’t have a fancy showroom or a reception desk. Usually, if someone comes by, they just find us at the back working. Mannarai has a lot of places like ours, but we try to do our bit properly. We take our lunch breaks together and then get back to it until the sun goes down. It’s a decent living and we’ve made some good friends in the trade over the years. We hope to stay here for a long time to come.
