A. V. Garments

Our shop is at No. 5/15 on Mahaliyamman Kovil 6th Street. It’s right behind the New Bus Stand, so it’s easy to find if you know the area. Being near the bus stand means it’s always busy around here. We hear the buses coming and going all day. A. V. Garments is a small operation. We focus on making clothes that people can actually wear every day. The room is filled with sewing machines and bits of fabric. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we have a lot of materials delivered. We don't have a big sign out front, just a small one. Most people find us by word of mouth or because they live nearby. We’ve been here for a few years and have gotten to know the other shop owners on the street. It’s a friendly neighborhood. We usually start early in the morning before it gets too hot. The work is steady, and we don't try to rush things too much. We focus on getting the stitches straight and the sizes right. Sometimes we make mistakes, but we fix them. It’s just the three of us working here most of the time. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just prefer to talk to people face to face when they come by the shop. It’s a simple life and we enjoy the work we do. We hope the clothes we make serve people well and last a long time.
