Lavos

Our place, Lavos, is over at Bs Apparel No. 20 in the Sidco area of Mudhalipalayam. It is an industrial kind of spot, so there’s always trucks and noise around, but that’s just how it goes here. We have been working out of this unit for a while. It’s mostly about getting the garments ready and making sure they look like they should. We spend a lot of time on the floor, checking things and moving stuff around. The weather gets pretty warm inside sometimes, but we keep the fans going and just get on with it. It’s not a fancy showroom. It’s a workshop where we put in the hours. We have a few regulars who come by, and we know most of the neighbors in the other units. Everyone is just trying to do their job. We handle the cutting and the sewing and all the little steps in between. It can get repetitive, but there is a certain rhythm to it that we like. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around, just a reliable one. If you walk in, you’ll see heaps of fabric and people busy at their stations. It’s a practical setup for the kind of work we do every day. We just stay focused on the task at hand and try to get things out the door on time. Sometimes things get backed up, but we work through it.
