N. S. Knits

Our place, N. S. Knits, is right at No. 1 Kuthuspuram 4th Street. It is very close to the 2nd Railway Gate, so we hear the trains passing by all day long. You get used to the sound after a week or two. The street is usually narrow and can get a bit muddy when it rains, but it’s home for us. We do all our knitting work here. The building is a simple one-story structure with a heavy door. Inside, the machines take up most of the floor space. It’s noisy when everything is running at once, but that’s the sound of work getting done. We have a few windows that let in some breeze, which is nice in the afternoons. Kuthuspuram is a busy little neighborhood with lots of small businesses like ours. We see the same people walking to the railway gate every morning. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy outside, just the name on the door. It’s mostly just us inside, keeping an eye on the yarn and making sure the rows come out straight. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit around and wait, but usually, we are busy from morning till evening. It’s a good living and we like the spot we’ve got. We’ve been at this 4th Street location for a long time and the landlord is a decent fellow who leaves us to it. It works out well for everyone.
