Knitted Fabrics

Knitted Fabrics is over in the Arun Complex on Jothi Theatre Road. It’s a busy street in Vallpalayam, and you can always hear the horns and the people outside. Our shop is filled from floor to ceiling with rolls of fabric. We have all sorts of knits in different colors and weights. It’s a bit of a squeeze to move around sometimes because we have so much stock. We don’t have a fancy display or a showroom. If you want to see something, we just pull it off the shelf and roll it out on the counter. It’s a bit dusty, as you’d expect with all that cloth. We spend most of the day measuring and cutting fabric for people who come in. The scissors are always in use. We have a few fans to keep the air moving, but it still gets quite warm in here during the summer. We’ve been in this location for a long time, so we know most of the regular customers by name. We aren't big on marketing or social media. Most people find us because they’re going to the theatre or they’ve heard about us from a neighbor. It’s a simple, local business. We have tea with the other shopkeepers in the complex when things are quiet. It’s a steady way to spend the day, and we like being part of the neighborhood here. It is just how things have always been for us.
