Raj Knit Fashion

Our place, Raj Knit Fashion, is located at 1/65 F in Ottapalayam. It is tucked right behind Sakthi Vigneshwara School. You can hear the kids playing during recess and the bell ringing throughout the day. Chettipalayam is where we call home. We’ve been working out of this spot for a while. The shop is filled with the sound of knitting machines and stacks of yarn. It’s a bit cramped inside because we have so much fabric everywhere. We don't have a fancy showroom. Usually, there are pieces of thread on the floor and some coffee mugs sitting around. People sometimes get lost finding us since we are behind the school, so we tell them to look for the playground noise. It’s a family-style environment here. My cousin helps with the packing and my neighbor stops by to chat. We focus on getting the knits right. The walls are painted a pale green that is starting to peel. We have a few big tables for cutting. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans running at full speed. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit. It’s a quiet life in Ottapalayam except for the school activities. We don't do much advertising; people just know where we are. It’s just Raj Knit Fashion, doing what we know how to do behind the school gates.
