Goodday Garments

Our shop, Goodday Garments, is right by the T. N. K. Puram bus stop on Kongu Main Road. If you know this part of town, you know it’s always loud with the buses stopping and starting right outside our door. We’ve been here for several years. Every morning I see the same people waiting for their ride to the factories. We mostly handle clothes, checking the stitching and making sure the piles are neat. It’s a lot of manual work. The ceiling fan hums all day but it doesn’t do much against the humidity. We have a small back room where we keep the extra stock. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late because of the traffic on the main road, which is frustrating. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. Just a simple setup. My brother helps me out with the heavy lifting. We get a lot of walk-ins because of the bus stop. People come in to browse while they wait. It’s a bit cramped in here when we have a new shipment, but we manage. We just focus on getting the orders ready and making sure everyone gets what they need. It’s hard work, but the days go by fast when we’re busy. We usually eat lunch sitting on the storage boxes. Life isn't perfect, but the shop keeps us going. We’ve become a part of the landscape here, and we know the regulars who pass by every day.
