Gokilaa Gaarments

We are located at 643/2b in Kulathupalayam. If you are coming down Palladam Road, you just have to look for the Veerapandi Telephone Exchange. We are very close to that landmark. The area is full of textile units, so the sound of machines is just part of the background here. It gets very dusty on the road when the wind blows, so we keep the windows mostly shut. We work on various garments throughout the week. The building we are in is a simple structure with a tin roof that gets quite loud when it rains. We have a few rows of machines and a big table for checking the finished pieces. My uncle started this place, and I’ve been working here since I was young. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a lobby for visitors. Usually, people just walk right into the work area if they need to talk to us. We have tea twice a day from the small shop near the exchange. It’s a habit we can't break. The work is repetitive but it’s what we know how to do. Sometimes the power goes out in Kulathupalayam, and we all just take a break until the generator starts up. It’s a practical life, making clothes and making sure they are stitched right. We don't spend much time worrying about the office side of things as long as the work is moving along and the orders are finished.
