Globus Apparels

Down in Tirupur, we are located at M/s. Globus Apparel Art in Anna Nagar. Specifically, we are in K. P. N Colony on the 3rd Street Extension. Tirupur is famous for this kind of work, so we fit right in with the rest of the neighborhood. The sound of the needles hitting the fabric is the background noise of our lives here. We have different stations for different parts of the apparel making. Some people are at the cutting tables while others are finishing the edges of the shirts. The room is always filled with the smell of pressed cotton and thread. It gets very bright in the mornings when the sun comes through the high windows. We have crates stacked up near the door ready to go out. The 3rd Street Extension can get pretty cramped when the transport trucks come to pick up the boxes in the afternoon. We usually have to help the driver navigate the narrow turn near the colony entrance so they don't hit anything. Inside, we just focus on the garments. There are piles of colorful fabric everywhere you look. We aren't big on decorations here; the walls are mostly bare except for some schedules and old calendars. It’s a lot of repetitive motion, but there’s a certain satisfaction when you see a whole stack of clothes finished and packed up. We take our breaks together and talk about the local news before getting back to work.
