Dhivya Fashions

You can find Dhivya Fashions at 12/22 Teachers Colony, specifically on 2ndstreet. It’s a more residential feel around here compared to the big industrial parks. We work out of this spot, mostly dealing with different types of clothing and fabrics. The space is filled with sewing machines, threads of every color you can imagine, and stacks of fabric waiting to be cut. We started out small and we’ve stayed that way for the most part. On a typical afternoon, the street is quiet, but inside we are usually pretty busy with whatever project is currently on the tables. We don’t have a big corporate setup. It’s more like a small team where everyone knows what the other person is doing. Sometimes we sit around the big cutting table to talk about how to fix a particular pattern that isn't sitting right. It’s hands-on work. We get a lot of people from the neighborhood dropping by or asking about things. The 2ndstreet location is easy enough to find if you know the landmark. We’ve got a couple of ceiling fans that struggle against the heat, but we make do. It’s an honest way to spend the day, working with our hands and making things that people actually wear. We aren't looking to change the world, just to keep the shop running and do a decent job for whoever needs our help. It is just daily life for us here.
