Walkman Hosieries

If you are looking for us, we are located at S. F. No. 478 / 1 B-1 in Ayyampalayam. It is a bit of a trek to get out here, especially if you are coming via the main road, but we are easy to find because we are right near Fine Fit in K. Chettipalayam. Walkman Hosieries has been in this building for a good while. The space is mostly taken up by the big knitting machines that make all the hosiery stuff. It gets pretty loud once everything is running at once, so we have to shout a bit to hear each other. We don't have any polished floors or bright lights. It’s just a practical workspace with concrete floors and big windows to let in some air. The dust from the yarn gets everywhere, so we are always sweeping. We have a small crew and most of us have been working together for a long time. We know each other’s families and what is going on in the neighborhood. In the afternoons, the sun hits the side of the building and it gets quite warm, so we usually open all the doors. We just focus on making sure the machines are fed with thread and that the pieces come out looking right. It is a simple life here in Ayyampalayam, just regular people doing regular work.
