Classic Knits

Classic Knits is found at No. 31 Pullimara Thottam. We are right on the Alangadu Mangalam Road. It is a fairly easy place to find if you know this part of town. We do a lot of knitting work in this building. The shop is filled with various types of machines for making different kinds of knits. We use a lot of cotton yarn here. The smell of raw cotton is always hanging in the air. At No. 31, we have a small group of people who have been working with us for a long time. They know exactly how the machines act when the weather gets too humid. Sometimes the needles get stuck and you have to have a certain feel for it to fix the problem without breaking anything. We do not have a big fancy showroom for customers to visit. We just have the main workspace and a back room to store the finished goods before they are picked up. The road outside is always noisy with buses and bikes going toward Mangalam. We have gotten used to the noise over the years. Sometimes we have to work late into the evening to finish a specific batch for a client. The lights aren't great but they do the job for us. We keep a stack of wooden crates near the entrance for the finished pieces. Every day is pretty much the same routine. We come in, check the machines, and start the day's work.
