Cheran Knitwears

We are over here at Sidco Industrial Estate in Tiruppur. It is quite a busy spot on Harvey Road. Most of us here at Cheran Knitwears spend the day between the machines and the packing tables. Sometimes the noise gets a bit much but that is just how it is in this part of town. We started out with a few sewing machines and now the space is pretty full. It gets hot during the summer months but we keep the fans going. Tiruppur is famous for these things so everyone knows what they are doing. Our address is No. 25, right in the middle of the estate. You can see the trucks coming and going all day long. We deal with lots of fabric and thread. Sometimes the orders are big and sometimes they are small. It doesn't really matter as long as the work gets done. Most of the staff live nearby so we have been working together for a long time. It feels more like a small family than a factory. We don't have fancy office rooms or anything like that. Just some desks and a lot of workspace. We usually have tea together in the afternoons when the pace slows down for a bit. There is always a lot of lint in the air from the cotton. That is just part of the job. We keep our heads down and focus on the stitching. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till evening.
