Chamraj Knits

Our place is at No. 14a in the Sidco Industrial Estate over on Harvey Road. It’s an older building, but it works for what we need. We spend our days around knitting machines that can be quite loud when they are all running at once. There’s always a lot of lint in the air, so we have to sweep a few times a day to keep it under control. We handle a lot of different knit fabrics and sometimes the colors are so bright they hurt your eyes after a few hours. The tea guy comes around twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a break and stand out by the gate for some fresh air. The Sidco estate is pretty busy, so there are always people moving around and deliveries being made at the other units. We have a small office tucked in the corner where the paperwork gets done, but most of the action is out on the floor. The roof leaks a tiny bit near the back window when it pours, so we have to remember to move the yarn away from that spot. It’s just a group of us working hard and trying to get the orders ready on time. We don't have fancy furniture or a front desk. It is just the machines, the tables, and the stacks of finished knits waiting to go out to the people who ordered them.
