Carona Knit Wear

Carona Knit Wear is located at No. 1 Bridge Way Colony Extention North. It’s a bit of a long name for an address, but it’s where we have our setup. The neighborhood is mostly residential mixed with small workshops like ours. Being at No. 1 makes us pretty easy to spot once you turn into the extension. We work with knitted fabrics all day. There is always a steady hum of machines in the background. It becomes like white noise after an hour or two. The space inside is mostly filled with large tables for folding and inspecting the garments. We don’t have air conditioning, so the big ceiling fans are always spinning. It gets quite warm in the summer months. Most of us live nearby, so we walk or ride our cycles to work. It’s a very local feel at Carona Knit Wear. We don't have a corporate structure. If something needs doing, whoever is free just does it. The building itself is plain and functional. We keep the windows open to let the air in, even if it brings in a bit of dust from the road. Our days are spent checking seams and counting pieces into bags. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. We’ve been at Bridge Way Colony for a long time, and we plan to stay. There is always a lot of tea and conversation during the mid-morning break, which is a nice part of the day.
