Canimaara Garments

If you walk down No. 28 Stanes Road 4th Street, you will find Canimaara Garments. It’s a busy area and the noise of the power looms from the neighboring buildings is something you just get used to after a week. We have been working out of this space for several years now. The floor is always covered in loose threads and bits of cotton, no matter how many times we sweep it up. We mostly do t-shirts and basic knitwear here. It is a simple operation with a small team of cutters and tailors who have been in the trade since they were young. We don’t have a website or anything like that, we just take orders from the big agents and get to work. The morning starts with tea and a quick look at the production board to see what needs to be packed by evening. The 4th street is quite narrow, so when the fabric trucks arrive, everything else has to stop. It can be a bit chaotic but we manage to get things out on time. The lighting inside is a bit bright and clinical, but it helps us see the small defects in the fabric. We aren't trying to be the biggest factory in town, just a reliable one that keeps the machines running and the staff paid every Saturday. It's honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk.
