Boma Knitwear

You can find us at No. 42 in the Kumarasamy Layout, over in the Sengadu Muthunagar Extension. It is a bit of a quiet area compared to the main town, mostly full of small units and houses. Our factory is a straightforward place where we focus on knitwear. The machines are pretty old but they work fine if you know how to treat them. We have a few long tables where we inspect the finished pieces for any loose threads or holes before they get packed. The floor is concrete and it’s usually covered in lint and thread, no matter how much we sweep it. We have big windows that stay open to catch whatever breeze we can get, though it still gets stuffy when the sun hits the roof. Most of the people working here live nearby, so we all know each other's families and kids. We don't have a front office or a receptionist to greet you. If someone comes by, they usually just walk right onto the floor and find one of us. We spend our days mostly matching colors and making sure the sizes are consistent across the whole batch. It is steady work. We don't do anything too complicated, just basic, solid knitting that people can use. There is always a radio playing somewhere in the background, mixed with the sound of the needles clicking away for hours.
