If you know where Sangeetha Theater is on Union Mill Road, then you’ve probably passed by us at No. 5 Pallaniappa Nagar. We are just a short walk from the cinema entrance. On weekends, the whole street gets packed with people going to see the latest movies, and we hear the music and the crowds from our front door. Our shop is a bit small, but we pack a lot into it. We spend most of our time organizing the new arrivals and helping folks who wander in from the theater area. The lighting inside isn't the greatest, but we make do with what we have. It’s a lively area to be in. Pallaniappa Nagar has a mix of houses and small shops like ours. We’ve been here for a few years now, and the routine hasn't changed much. We open up, sweep the front, and start checking the stock. Most of what we have is just regular fashion items that people in the neighborhood like to wear. We don't try to be anything we aren't. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, and we just sit outside on the steps until it comes back on. It’s a good way to meet the other shopkeepers around here. We talk about the business and the traffic. It’s just a simple place on a busy road where we try to stay busy and keep the shelves full of things people want. We enjoy being near the theater because there is always something happening.
