Bethel Garments

Our place is at 46 Puthu Thottam Main Street, right off Kamaraj Road. It’s easy to find if you know the area. We’ve been stitching garments here for quite a while. The street is always full of people moving around. Most mornings, we open up and start sorting through the fabric rolls. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, but we know where everything is kept. The fans stay on all day because it gets stuffy inside. We make all sorts of clothes. Nothing too fancy, just stuff people can actually wear. The sewing machines are pretty old but they still work fine. Sometimes a needle breaks and we have to pause for a bit. My nephew helps out on the weekends when it gets busy. We don't really have a big sign out front, just the address. People usually find us by word of mouth. It's quieter in the afternoons when the sun is directly overhead. We usually take a short break then. Kamaraj Road is always loud with horns and bikes, but inside we just focus on the seams. We don't do any big advertising. If the clothes are good, people come back. That's how it's always been for us at Bethel Garments. It's hard work, but it keeps us busy. We like the neighborhood and the people who live around here. We just try to get the stitching right every time and keep the shop running.
