Base Knit Apparel

Out here in Ammapalayam, life moves at a steady pace. We are located at number 10/24 in Bharathi Nagar, which is a bit of a walk from the main bus stop. At Base Knit Apparel, we spend most of our daylight hours around knitting machines and piles of fabric. It’s not a quiet place because the machines make a lot of noise when they are running. We mostly work on cotton goods and various types of knitwear that get sent out to different places. The Coimbatore district is known for this kind of work, so we fit right in with the neighborhood. There are quite a few people working here, mostly locals who have been doing this for years. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. Just some desks and chairs in one corner and the production floor taking up the rest of the space. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to wait a bit, but that's just how it goes sometimes. We try to keep things organized, though fabric scraps always seem to find their way onto the floor. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. When the day ends, we just lock up and head home like everyone else in the area. It’s a plain business without any bells or whistles, just focused on getting the orders done and shipped out.
