If you head down Pn Road and turn into Mariamman Layout, you’ll find us at No. 16. This area of Kumarananthapuram is always busy with textile work, and we are right in the middle of it. Our building is a basic structure where we do our fashion work. It’s mostly about getting the garments cut and sewn correctly. We have a few rows of machines and a big cutting table that takes up most of the center room. It’s usually pretty warm in here because of the irons and the lack of a big breeze, but we keep the fans going. The walls used to be white, but they’ve turned a bit grey over time from all the lint and dust from the fabric. We don’t have a fancy reception area. If you come by, you’ll probably find someone busy with a pile of shirts or checking the thread count. We talk a lot while we work, mostly about the weather or local news. It’s a very casual atmosphere, but we do get the work done. Sometimes the orders are big and we stay late, drinking tea and listening to the radio. It’s just how life is for us here. We aren't trying to be a global brand, just a local business doing our bit in the layout. We just keep our heads down and sew.
