B. J. Apparels

We are located at No. 10 in the Subbaih Gounder Compound. This is in the Therkuthottam area on the 2nd Street Extension in Karuvampalayam. The compound has several different businesses in it, so there is always some noise and people moving about. We have a decent-sized room where we do all our apparel work. It’s mostly just big tables for cutting the fabric and a row of machines for the sewing part. We don't have any air conditioning, just some ceiling fans that spin fast and make a lot of clicking sounds. The floor is usually covered in little bits of thread and fabric by noon. We sweep it all up at the end of the shift, but it just comes back the next day. It’s a very practical way of working. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy entrance. You just walk in and we are right there working on the latest batch of clothes. Most of the people who work here live close by, so we all know each other’s families and what’s going on in the neighborhood. It makes for a friendly place even when we are very busy with a big order. We just keep our heads down and try to do the best we can with the tools we have. It’s a regular job and a regular shop, and that’s fine by us. We just keep the machines running. (254 words)
