Raam Fashions

Raam Fashions is based at Kanniappa Chettiar Illam on Gandhi Road. It's in the Anupparpalayam area. The building has that old style to it, which we like. Being on Gandhi Road means there is always a lot of activity outside. We are at number 51 E. Most of the time, the front door is open to let a breeze in. We do a lot of clothing work here. It’s a lot of cutting and measuring throughout the day. The floors are usually covered in scraps of fabric by five o'clock. We try to sweep up before we head home. It’s a local business through and through. The guys working here have lived in this area their whole lives. We don't use any fancy software or big machines. It’s mostly handwork and simple tools. Anupparpalayam is known for this kind of work, so we fit right in with the neighbors. Sometimes the rain makes the road a bit messy, but that’s just how it is. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If you come by, you'll probably just see us working at the tables. We just handle the orders that come in from the local market. It’s steady work and it keeps everyone fed. We’ve been at this spot for years and the walls could probably tell a few stories. It’s just us, some fabric, and the hum of the machines every day.
