Nanco Hosiery Mills

Our mill is located at Sf. No. 363/1 in Thanneer Panthal Colony. It’s just off the Avinashi Road in Anupparpalayam. If you come by, you’ll hear the knitting machines from the gate. Nanco Hosiery Mills has been part of this colony for quite some time. We make a lot of basic hosiery items like vests and socks. The floor is always covered in a bit of lint and thread, no matter how much we sweep it. We have a crew of about fifteen people working in shifts. It’s a practical workspace, not a showroom. We have big windows that let in a lot of light, which helps with checking the fabric for holes. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to spend half the day fixing a gear. It’s frustrating but it's part of the job. We pack everything into white bags and label them with a thick black marker. The office is just a small corner with a wooden desk and a lot of files. We don’t do much fancy talking here. Most of our buyers are people we’ve worked with since the beginning. They know the quality of the yarn we use. Anupparpalayam is a hub for this kind of work, so we fit right in. The tea stall nearby is where we spend our breaks talking about the price of cotton. It’s a decent life and we keep the machines running through the week.
