Vedavalli Vidyalaya

Vedavalli Vidyalaya is out on M.B.T Road in Bagaveli. It’s near the Thangal Post in Walajapet, so it’s a bit of a trek for some of us who live further into Vellore. The area is quite open, which is nice because you get a good breeze, but the dust from the road can be a bit much sometimes. We have a fairly large campus here. There are trees planted along the edges, though they are still growing. Every morning, you can see the students walking along the road or coming in on cycles. The building itself is sturdy and does the job. We have different wings for the different grades. Inside, the hallways are usually lined with bags and water bottles. We spend a lot of time on the basics. There are no high-tech labs with glowing lights, just regular rooms with wooden benches and old cupboards. The teachers often sit together during lunch in the common room, talking about their day or the weather. Most of us bring our own lunch boxes and sit under the shade if it’s not too dusty. It’s a practical place. We focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the exams are handled properly. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just open the windows wider to let the air in. It’s part of living out here. We’ve been part of this landscape for a while now, and people know where to find us if they need us.
