Om Muruga Store

You can find Om Muruga Store at 56, Lalapet Road in Walajapet. It’s a pretty standard spot on a road that sees a lot of local foot traffic. The shop is basically one large room filled with wooden racks that we’ve had for ages. We don’t have any of those fancy cooling systems, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum all day long. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy with the daily chores to get around to it. We sell the usual stuff that people in Walajapet need for their houses. It gets quite busy during the festival seasons because everyone is looking for specific items at the last minute. On most days, it’s just a slow and steady stream of people. We keep a ledger on the counter to track everything because that’s how we’ve always done it. It’s a lot of standing and waiting, then a sudden burst of activity when the school nearby lets out or people finish their shifts. The noise from Lalapet Road is constant, mostly horns and the sound of cycles going past. We don’t try to make the place look like a big mall or anything. It’s just a practical store where things are easy to find if you know where to look. We’ve been at this address for a long time, and the building feels like a second home to us now.
