Village Spices

Village Spices is a small operation located at 7-99 in Shanti Nagar. This is in the Chittoor district, so it is a bit away from the main hustle of the big towns. Shanti Nagar is a quiet place where people mostly know their neighbors. Our building is a simple house-like structure that we use for processing our spices. We spend our days drying things out and grinding them down. The smell is very strong, mostly of pepper and cumin, and it hangs in our clothes even after we leave. We don’t have any fancy machines, just some basic equipment that gets the job done. The work is mostly done by hand, which takes a lot of time. We have a small yard where we sometimes lay things out in the sun. It is a very basic way of working. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It is just a few of us doing what we know how to do. The walls are painted a simple white but they get dirty quickly with all the spice dust flying around. We keep a ledger to track what comes in and what goes out. It is a steady life and we like the peace of being in Shanti Nagar. We just focus on getting the work done every day.
