Kalamkari Art Gallery

Kalamkari Art Gallery is right here in Tirupati. It isn't a massive museum or anything like that, just a regular gallery where we keep the art. The space is filled with the smell of dyes and fabric, which is something you get used to after a few minutes. We have the pieces hanging on the walls and some are folded up on the tables. Tirupati is a busy town, so we get a lot of people passing through who just want to look at something nice. The floor is made of stone and stays relatively cool even when it’s hot outside. We don't have fancy lights or those expensive display cases. Everything is just out where you can see it clearly. Sometimes we spend the whole morning just rearranging the racks to make more room for new things. It gets a bit dusty because of the wind, so we are always dusting the frames. The gallery doesn't have a big sign out front, just the name Kalamkari Art Gallery. We don't really have a sales pitch. If someone likes a piece of art, they tell us. Most of the time we are just sitting in the back or helping someone find a specific pattern. It's a slow-paced environment compared to the rest of the city. We enjoy the quiet when it happens. It’s just us and the art in this little corner of Tirupati. We hope people find something they like when they walk through the door.
