Gautham Spices

Gautham Spices is located at 17-34 on Satyanarayana Swamy Temple Street. It’s a narrow street and when the temple has a festival, it gets almost impossible to bring any vehicles through. We’ve learned to plan our deliveries around the temple calendar. The smell around our shop is always full of different spices. We spend our days grinding and mixing and sometimes the dust makes everyone sneeze. It’s a small operation, just a few rooms where we keep the grinders and the storage bins. We don’t have a fancy website or any of those modern things. Most people find us because they live nearby or they heard about us from a neighbor. The street is usually busy with people going to offer prayers, so we see a lot of faces passing by every day. We’ve been at 17-34 for quite some time now. The walls are a bit stained from the turmeric but that’s just how it is when you work with these things. We don't talk much about visions or goals. We just focus on making sure the spice blends are done the way they’ve always been done. It's a lot of manual labor and our backs often ache by five o'clock. But it’s what we do to make a living.
