You can find us at 5/713 on the 1st Main Road, right near the Kanyaka Paameshwari Temple. It is a good spot because people often stop by after they finish their morning prayers. The shop is a typical general store with everything from soap to lentils stacked up to the ceiling. We have been here for a long time, and the floorboards have become quite smooth from all the feet walking over them. My father used to run things here, and not much has changed since then. We still use the same heavy iron weights for the bulk grains. The bell from the temple rings throughout the day, which is a nice sound to work to. We don't have a website or any of that modern stuff. We just talk to the people who walk in and help them find what they need for their dinner. Sometimes the kids from the street come in for a single piece of candy. It gets a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at once, but nobody seems to mind the squeeze. We keep a ledger on the counter to track what we sell, and the ink always smudges on my fingers. It is a quiet existence, and we are happy to be part of the daily routine for the folks living on this road.
