Sri Abirami Cottage Industries

Out on Elavan Kulam Road in Sankaran Kovil, you can find us at Sri Abirami Cottage Industries. We are located at 32-C/3 on Bharathiar 3rd Street. It’s a quiet enough area most of the time. We do a lot of small-scale manufacturing here, the kind of things you’d expect from a cottage industry. It’s a family-style setup. We have a few rooms where the work gets done, and it’s often a bit noisy with the machines running. We’ve been here on 3rd Street for a long time, and the neighbors all know us. We don't have a big front office or anything like that. People just walk in if they need to talk to us. We make our products one batch at a time, mostly using older methods. It’s not like a big factory where everything is automated. We still do a lot by hand. Sometimes we run into delays if a machine breaks down or if the materials are late arriving, but we always manage to catch up. The air usually smells like whatever we are making that day. We don't have a website or do any fancy advertising. Most of what we sell goes to local shops or people who come directly to the door. It’s a simple way to work, and it suits us fine. We just focus on keeping the quality steady and the machines running as best they can. It is a humble way to earn a living.
