Soorya Weaves

We are located at number 22, M.L. Pillai Nagar in Palayamkottai. Our building is a simple one-story house that we’ve used for our work for many years. The street is relatively quiet and has some nice trees that provide shade. Palayamkottai is a place with a lot of tradition, and we try to keep that spirit in our work. Inside our space, there is always the sound of activity. We do a lot of weaving and handling of fabrics, so the rooms are often full of thread and different materials. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that’s just the nature of the work. We have a small group of workers from the local area. There is no big boss or complicated hierarchy; we all just work side by side. We start early in the morning when it's still cool and take a break when the sun is at its peak. We don't have a website or do any big advertising. Most people find us through word of mouth or just by walking past. We value the relationships we have with the people in our neighborhood. The local tea shop is where we catch up on the news. It’s a simple, honest way of living and working. We don't need a lot of modern gadgets to do what we do. We just rely on our hands and our experience.
