Shifa Hospital

Our place, Shifa Hospital, sits right on No. 82 Kailasapuram Middle Street. It’s a familiar part of the Tirunelveli Junction area. Being on Middle Street means there is always something going on outside our doors. The street is narrow in some parts but people manage to get through. We have been here for a good amount of time and the local folks know the address well. It is just a regular building where we do our work every day. Inside, it’s mostly quiet compared to the noise from the junction. We don't have big posters or shiny furniture. It’s just the basics that we need to help the people who come in. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, or the rain makes the street muddy. That is just how life is in Kailasapuram. The staff here mostly takes the bus or walks since it’s so close to the junction. We see many faces from the neighborhood. It’s not about being the biggest building, just being where we are supposed to be. We keep the floors clean and the medicine stocked. It’s a long day usually but we are used to the rhythm of the street. Everyone knows the way to number 82. We just stay busy with the charts and the patients who wait in the lobby. It’s not a flashy lifestyle but it’s honest work for all of us here. We simply do what we can with the tools we have.
