Saravanas Interior

Our shop is right on Railway Feeder Road, pretty close to the railway gate in Maharaja Nagar. If you’re in Palayamkottai, you’ve probably passed by Saravanas Interior without thinking much of it. We do a lot of woodwork and fixing up the inside of houses. There’s usually sawdust all over the floor because we’re always cutting some timber or other. It gets loud when the trains go by the gate, but you get used to that sound after a week or two. We don't have a big fancy website or anything like that to show off. People mostly find us by word of mouth or by seeing our faded sign near the gate. We have a few samples of wood and some paint charts tucked in a corner for people to look at. Sometimes we run out of a specific type of hinge and have to wait for the delivery guy to show up from town. It’s just the way it goes in this business. My cousin helps out with the heavy lifting when we have big cabinets to move. We take our time with the joints because nobody wants a wobbly table in their home. It’s not a fast process, but we stay busy enough most months. Sometimes the heat in the workshop gets to be a bit much, so we take our tea breaks in the shade. We’ve been doing this for a long time now, and we know the locals here pretty well.
