You can find Sankar Travels & Cabs at the Corporation Building, right near Tirunelveli Junction. Being at the Junction means it is always busy. There are trains coming in and people rushing around constantly. We have been at No 22 for some time now. It’s a small office, usually cluttered with papers and tea cups. We handle both cab bookings and longer travel arrangements. Since we are so close to the station, we get a lot of people who have just hopped off a train and need to get somewhere else fast. We don't have a fancy waiting room. Most people just stand by the door while we check which driver is available. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, but we keep the fan going. We don't bother with big advertisements because the location does the work for us. People see the sign and walk in. We try to be honest about the wait times. If all our cars are out, we just tell you. No point in making someone wait for an hour if we can't help. We know the city routes and the highway pretty well. It’s a simple operation. We just provide rides to whoever needs them, whether it is a short trip across town or a long haul to another district. We take the bookings as they come and just try to stay organized in the middle of all the Junction noise.
