We’re located at 75 Salai Street over in Sindhuppoondurai. It’s a decent spot in Tirunelveli, not too far from the main hub. Ponviram Chit Fund is what we go by. The office is pretty straightforward. We have a couple of desks, some cupboards for the files, and a place for people to sit. It’s not a corporate headquarters, just a local office where we do our daily work. Most of the time, we’re busy with the paperwork for the different chit groups. People come by throughout the day to drop off their payments or check on their status. We know most of them by their first names. The 627001 area has been our base for quite some time. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we have a few fans going to stay cool while we work through the ledgers. We don't use any fancy software that makes things complicated. We just stick to the way we’ve always done things. It works for us and it works for the folks who come here. There’s always some tea going if you happen to stop by at the right time. We just try to be helpful and keep the accounts clear. It’s a quiet life, mostly, just keeping track of the numbers and talking to the regulars who live nearby. It can get noisy when the buses go past but we like it here. We just open up the shutters every morning.
