G. Balaji

I run things here from 46 B on P. S. V. K North Street. It’s a quiet enough street most of the time, though you get the usual morning rush. This is where I handle the daily work, mostly paperwork and meeting folks who need things sorted out. I've lived around this area for a long time, so I know the neighborhood and the people well. Most people just call me Balaji. My setup isn't anything special to look at, just a desk, some chairs for visitors, and my filing cabinets. I think it’s better to keep things simple instead of spending money on furniture I don't need. When you work for yourself like this, you end up doing every single job, from answering the phone to sweeping the floor at the end of the day. That’s just how it goes when it's your own name on the door. I started this because I wanted to work for myself and stay close to my home. North Street is a good place for that kind of life. I'm usually around from the morning until the early evening hours. If the shutter is up, I’m inside working on something. It’s a one-man show mostly, though sometimes I get a bit of help from a neighbor if the workload gets too heavy. There’s no big sign or flashing neon lights, just my name and the address on the wall. It works for me and it seems to work for the people who come to see me. It’s honest work and I try to do it right.
