Ezhil Leth Works

Our workshop, Ezhil Leth Works, is situated at 1292 Ezhil Nagar in Sankarankovil. It’s right in the Kalapakulam area. We’ve been working with metal here for a long time. The shop is basically our second home. We open up early and stay until the work is done. Sankarankovil is a place where people appreciate things being fixed rather than thrown away. That’s where we come in. We take the old parts and try to make them useful again. Our lathe is the heart of the shop. It’s seen a lot of use over the years. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a front desk. You just walk into the workspace. It’s usually a bit dark inside because we keep the sun out to stay cool. There’s always the sound of metal hitting metal. We don’t do any big marketing. If we do a decent job, people tell their friends, and that’s enough for us. We handle all kinds of small engineering tasks. Sometimes it’s for a tractor, other times it’s for a household item. We don’t mind what it is as long as we can work on it. The neighborhood has grown around us, but our shop stays much the same. We just keep our heads down and work. It’s a simple way to spend the day and it keeps us going. There's always some grease under my fingernails but that's just a part of the trade we chose years ago.
