You can find us on Salai Street in Vannarpettai. Esic Hospital is a familiar place for the people living around here. It’s not a shiny new building, but it’s where we work every day to help the folks who come in. The street outside can get quite busy, especially during the market hours. We have a lot of regulars who know us by name. It’s a community feeling, even though it’s a hospital. We do a lot of record-keeping and making sure the supplies are stocked up. The rooms are basic and functional. We don’t spend money on fancy decorations. Most of the staff has been here for a long time, so we have a rhythm. We know which doors squeak and where the best light is in the afternoon. It’s about getting the job done. Sometimes the lines are long, and we have to explain the wait times to people. We just try to stay calm and keep things moving. There’s always a lot of activity in the hallways. Whether it’s moving equipment or helping someone find their way, we stay on our toes. It’s a practical place for practical people. We don't make big promises, we just show up and do what’s needed for the patients who rely on us. There is always a lot of cleaning to do and we make sure it gets done every single morning before the rush begins.
