Egai Chits Private Limited

Our office is at 7/4 B-2 on Tirumalayapuram Street in Ayikudy. This is down in the Tirunelveli area, and it is a pretty typical small-town setup. We’ve got a small front area where people come in to talk to us about their chits. The building is nothing special, just a regular concrete structure that keeps the sun off our heads. We spend our days tracking the monthly payments and making sure the auctions go as planned. It involves a lot of writing in big notebooks and using a calculator that has seen better days. The street outside is usually quiet, except for the occasional bike or tractor going past. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know how things work. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when it gets too stuffy indoors. People from the surrounding villages come in on market days to settle their accounts. We know who is who and we don't ask for much other than for folks to be on time with their dues. There are no fancy presentations or sales pitches here. We just explain how the chit works and let people decide if they want in. It is a very grounded way of doing things. We are just part of the local landscape in Ayikudy, doing the same thing day after day on Tirumalayapuram Street for the community members.
