Caswin Crafts

We’ve been over here on Daniel Thomas Street for a while now. It’s a quiet spot in Palayamkottai, and Caswin Crafts is really just us doing what we know. People come by Vinmalar 46/26-C looking for different things we make. It isn't a fancy setup by any means. Mostly, it’s just the sound of tools and us working through the day. Sometimes the heat in Palayankottai gets a bit much, especially in the afternoons, but we keep at it regardless. We don't have a big front office or anything like that. If you walk down the street, you’ll eventually find the door. Most of our days are spent sorting through various materials and making sure things are put together right. It is a lot of handwork. You get used to the rhythm of it after a few years. We started this because we liked making things, and it just stayed that way for us. There are no big meetings here. Just us and the crafts. Sometimes we forget to tidy up the workbench before the day ends because we are tired. It’s a practical kind of life. We know the neighbors and they know us by name. If someone stops by, we usually just chat for a bit while we continue our work. It’s not about being the biggest shop around. We just like that people in the area know where to find us when they need something handmade. It’s home for us here on this street. We’ve seen the neighborhood change, but the work stays the same.
